Heatwaves are no fun. But there are things we can do to make ourselves more comfortable, from the way we dress to the way we run errands, to the way we work. The Netherlands is officially in the grip of a heatwave after the temperature topped 25 Celsius. The hot weather has sent people flocking to the seaside and lakes to cool off.
Although our emotions currently switch from 'isn't this bliss?' to 'I can't handle this', there is one way to help those sweaty and hot moments, and that is to dress accordingly. We have picked some of our heatwave friendly tips with our favourite summer pieces to add to your summer wardrobe.
1. Wear breathable fabrics
Cotton and linen are your friend in the summer heat which will keep you cool whilst looking very on trend. Our Off Shoulder Playsuit in linen is great piece on a hot sunny day. Sisterhood pieces like Jeannie Slip Dress and Sabine Shirt are made of 100% cotton and are some of our favourites.
2. Dress cool in loose and flowy clothes
Wear loose and flowy clothing to avoid them sticking to you on hot and humid days. Look chic with our flowy dresses, while still being comfortable and letting the cool breeze touch the skin. Choose our versatile Ruffle Tops, that go practically with everything.
Pair tube/bandeau tops with:
- Pants for a dressed up look
- Skirt for a fun casual look
- Under overalls to keep it cool yet dressed up
- As a cover up for bikini
Dresses are also a great way to beat the heat as they let the summer breeze in. The Allie Dress is a great option for a summer party.
3. Choose lighter colours
Light colours, such as white and subtle pastel shades, are the best at resisting heat, not to mention, covering up sweat patches. However, sun UV rays can still easily penetrate light fabrics. So, if you are wearing bright whites, it's a good idea to still be slathered in sun cream underneath. Choose from our Romee Slip Top in Almond Milk, Agnes Trousers or Lotus Blouse in Pearl for a fresh white look.
4. Pick the right footwear
The right shoes are key to staying cool and comfortable in this heat. Slip on sandals or a simple mule can still look super chic, without feeling like you're stuffing your swollen hot feet into a heeled court. Pick from AMA Mules in White or Black, Kika Mules in Tan or our super comfy Elia Sandals to finish your summer look.
5. Add some sunnies
Protect your eyes while still looking chic by adding some stylish sunglasses. Not only do they provide much needed shade from the sun, a funky or vintage looking pair of sunglasses can add a lot of oomph to your outfit. Pick our Cosmic Rebel in Acid Green or Wild Child in Baby Pink pairs for a colourful addition to a monochrome look. Easy Rider in Tortoiseshell and Road Tripper in Matte Black are great classics for everyday.
